In the News
Context is everything.
By Anne Blume
Context is everything. Those of us in this industry probably always look at world events with a thought to the insurance, claims, or legal angle. In this issue, we take a look at some of the big recent headlines and consider them from a claims and litigation perspective. It’s a perfect demonstration of how we as an industry help protect things and people and help put them back together or get their lives back on track when something bad happens.
It’s that message that resonates with the younger generation of professionals and with those who are considering a career in this industry. We help people. As we work to roll out initiatives targeted to young professionals, we’ve made some system upgrades so we can actually track who falls into that category. If you haven’t already, be sure to update your CLM profile online so we can make sure you don’t miss news relevant to you. Your profile contains information about areas of specialty, geography, and now birth-year range. That information helps us target messages so you don’t miss out on news related to events, webinars, and resources of relevance to you.
I’ve also been busy working on advancing the Universal Claims Certification (UCC). We’re making solid inroads in several states, and I hope to be able to announce new states adopting the UCC in the coming months. In the interim, we are wrapping up testing of the system and processes and will be rolling out the UCC live shortly.
I’m also excited to share that CLM Magazine was awarded the 2019 Southeast Region Bronze “Azbee” from the American Society of Business Publication Editors for the quarterly “Blame Game” series written in 2018 by Teresa Beck of Buchanan, Ingersoll & Rooney. Congratulations to all involved!
As always, my door is open, and I love to hear feedback and ideas from our membership. Let me know what’s on your mind.
